Pitru Paksha, which will be observed from Saturday, 26 September 2026, to Saturday, 10 October 2026, is a sacred 15-day lunar period in Hinduism dedicated to remembering, honoring, and expressing gratitude to our departed ancestors, known as the Pitrus.
This is a time when we are encouraged to slow down, reflect on our lives, remember our ancestors, and become more conscious of our thoughts and actions. If you believe that the blessings and guidance of your ancestors are with you, then what could be more meaningful than taking some time to reconnect with them?
And remember one important thing and if you want to go far in life, sometimes you have to pause for a while. You need to look back, understand where you are going, and decide how you can bring your life onto the right path. This is exactly what we want to help you understand through this blog.
1. Remember Those You Have Lost
If you have lost someone in your family in the past few years, take some time during Pitru Paksha to remember them. Look at their photographs, remember the beautiful moments you shared, and express your gratitude for having had them in your life.
Many people believe that during these sacred days, the presence and blessings of ancestors can be felt more deeply. Whether you experience this spiritually or simply through memories, this can be a meaningful time to reconnect with their love and the lessons they left behind.
2. Keep Yourself Peaceful and Productive
During these days, try to remain happy, stress-free, and meaningfully occupied with your work and responsibilities.
When your mind becomes calmer, you begin to understand yourself better. You may discover what you truly want to do, where you want to improve, and what you want to achieve in life.
Sometimes, taking a pause from unnecessary distractions helps us understand our own direction.
3. Connect With Your Gemstone
If you wear a gemstone or keep one close to you in any form, use this period as an opportunity to spend some quiet time with it.
Hold your gemstone, meditate with it, or simply sit peacefully with it and reflect on your thoughts. If you believe that your ancestors continue to protect and guide you, you can use the gemstone as a symbolic reminder of their presence, love, and blessings.
The gemstone can become a personal object of reflection and connection during this sacred period.
4. Meditate and Maintain Cleanliness
Meditation can be a beautiful practice during Pitru Paksha. But cleansing does not have to mean cleansing only your thoughts.
Keep your mind peaceful, but also maintain cleanliness and order in your surroundings. Clean your room, your meditation space, your workplace, and the areas where you spend most of your time.
A clean environment can help create a more peaceful atmosphere for reflection and meditation.
5. Stay Away From Unnecessary Negativity
Try to distance yourself from people, conversations, and situations that constantly bring unnecessary negativity into your life.
At the same time, be mindful of the energy you bring into your own home. Avoid unnecessary arguments, harsh words, and conflicts whenever possible.
Use these days to create an atmosphere of peace, respect, gratitude, and understanding.
6. Remember: Karma Matters
Karma is real, and our actions have consequences.
The way we treat others, the intentions behind our actions, and the choices we make all become part of our journey.
So during Pitru Paksha, try to do more good, help others whenever you can, speak with kindness, and act with compassion. The more consciously and positively you live, the more peaceful your own journey can become.
Pitru Paksha is not only about remembering those who have passed away. It can also be a time to pause, reflect, express gratitude, correct our direction, and move forward with greater awareness.
Sometimes, looking back is not a step backward. It is what helps us understand how to move forward.
