The 90/10 Gemstone Rule: Build a Powerful Connection With Your Crystal | Shwasam Crystals

We often wonder why gemstones do not seem to work equally for everyone. Why is it that a gemstone that has worked beautifully for someone else does not seem to be working for us?

Why is it not helping us with decision-making, confidence, emotional strength, or the particular purpose for which we bought it?

Sometimes, we even begin to feel that the gemstone is no longer lucky for us. We may think, “I bought this gemstone to attract wealth, but I am not seeing any change.” Or, “I thought this gemstone would make me emotionally stronger, but I still feel confused and stressed.” We start questioning whether the gemstone has lost its healing energy or whether its power has somehow stopped working.

And then, someone comes along and says, “I think the healing power of your gemstone is finished.”

That one sentence can create even more doubts.

Suddenly, you start looking at your gemstone differently. You begin wondering whether you should remove it, replace it, cleanse it again, or buy another gemstone. The more opinions you hear, the more confused you become.

But what if, instead of constantly questioning your gemstone, you changed the way you approached your relationship with it?

This is where I want to introduce the 90/10 Rule.

Think of it very simply.

When you bring a gemstone into your life, give only 10% of your attention to the gemstone itself and 90% to your own intention, actions, consistency, and belief in the process.

Your gemstone should not become a source of constant anxiety.

When you choose a gemstone, first understand why you chose it. Maybe you were attracted to Clear Quartz. Maybe you loved Rose Quartz. Maybe Amethyst made you feel peaceful. Perhaps you connected with Citrine because you wanted to focus more on abundance and prosperity.

Once you have consciously chosen your gemstone, give yourself some time to build a meaningful relationship with it.

Do not spend every day asking, “Is it working?”

Do not keep comparing your gemstone with somebody else's gemstone.

Do not allow every outside opinion to make you doubt your personal experience.

If someone tells you, “Your gemstone is not effective,” you do not have to immediately accept that statement as your truth. You can simply remind yourself, “I chose this gemstone with a positive intention, and I am going to give myself time to understand my experience with it.”

That is what standing by your gemstone really means.

It does not mean blindly believing that a stone will magically solve every problem in your life. It means creating a positive connection with something that reminds you of your intentions.

For example, if you choose Amethyst because you associate it with calmness, whenever you wear it or hold it, you can use that moment to slow down, breathe, meditate, and become more aware of your thoughts.

If you choose Clear Quartz, you might use it as a reminder to stay clear-minded, focused, and intentional.

If you choose Rose Quartz, it can become a reminder to practice self-love, kindness, compassion, and emotional balance.

The gemstone can become a meaningful part of your personal ritual.

And this is where the 10% comes in.

You do not need to spend your entire day thinking about your gemstone. Even 10 minutes a day can become your personal gemstone time.

Sit quietly with it.

Hold it in your hand.

Meditate.

Take a few deep breaths.

Think about what you want to improve in yourself.

Ask yourself: “What kind of person do I want to become?”

Instead of asking, “When will this gemstone change my life?” ask, “What can I do today to create the change I want?”

This small shift can completely change your relationship with the gemstone.

The remaining 90% is your responsibility.

Your gemstone cannot make a decision for you. You have to make the decision.

Your gemstone cannot build your career. You have to work for it.

Your gemstone cannot create a healthy relationship. You have to communicate, understand, and show up.

Your gemstone cannot replace professional medical, financial, or psychological guidance when you need it.

But if your gemstone becomes a symbol of your intention, confidence, discipline, spirituality, or self-awareness, it can become a beautiful part of your daily routine.

Once you develop a healthy relationship with your gemstone, you may begin noticing changes in yourself not necessarily because the stone has magically solved everything, but because you have become more conscious of your thoughts, emotions, choices, and actions.

You may feel more focused.

You may become more confident.

You may become more aware of your emotions.

You may start paying attention to opportunities that you previously ignored.

You may feel more connected to your spiritual practices.

And sometimes, that inner shift is exactly what you were looking for.

So, if you have chosen Clear Quartz because you genuinely connect with it, do not constantly think, “Maybe I should stop using Clear Quartz and switch to Rose Quartz.”

Give your chosen gemstone a fair chance.

If you believe Clear Quartz represents clarity, emotional balance, spiritual connection, and positive intention for you, work with those qualities.

And if Rose Quartz resonates with you, create the same kind of relationship with Rose Quartz.

The important thing is not to keep jumping from one gemstone to another simply because someone told you that another stone is more powerful.

A precious gemstone is not automatically better than a semi-precious gemstone for every individual. A more expensive gemstone is not necessarily the right gemstone for you.

Your connection, intention, consistency, and personal experience matter.

Most importantly, do not let fear become part of your gemstone practice.

If someone tells you, “Your gemstone has stopped working,” you do not have to panic.

If someone says, “This gemstone is no longer lucky for you,” you do not have to immediately remove it.

Pause.

Observe.

Reflect.

Ask yourself how you actually feel when you wear or work with your gemstone.

Your gemstone journey should be peaceful, not stressful.

The 90/10 Rule is ultimately a reminder that you are the most important part of the process.

Give your gemstone 10% your attention, your time, your intention, perhaps those quiet ten minutes of reflection.

But give yourself the remaining 90% your effort, discipline, choices, courage, self-belief, learning, and action.

That is where real transformation begins.

So, the next time you look at your gemstone, do not immediately ask, “Is it working?”

Instead, ask yourself:

“What am I doing with the energy and intention I have associated with this gemstone?”

Because perhaps the real power is not about constantly searching for a better gemstone.

Perhaps it is about becoming better connected with yourself.

Your gemstone can be a beautiful reminder.

But you are the one who takes the step.

And when faith, intention, awareness, and action come together, your gemstone journey can become much more meaningful than simply wearing a beautiful stone.
